Al-Jusair Mosque
Project type
Mosque
Date
2010
Location
Irbid - Jordan
Al-Jusair Mosque is envisioned as a contemporary spiritual landmark that reinterprets traditional Islamic architecture through modern geometries, soft sculptural forms, and refined spatial organization. The design brings together purity, symmetry, and light—creating a serene environment for worship while integrating complementary community spaces within a cohesive architectural language.
At the heart of the project is the grand prayer hall, defined by a sweeping dome and supported by a series of clean cubic volumes and curved shells that celebrate the dialogue between structure and light. Tall glazed surfaces frame the main entrance, allowing daylight to wash softly into the interior and emphasizing the spiritual axis of the mosque. The minaret rises as a slender, sculpted element—both contemporary in form and deeply rooted in its symbolic role as a beacon of faith.
The basement level accommodates essential supporting functions, including ablution areas, storage, guest rooms, and living spaces, organized to ensure efficient circulation and privacy. The ground floor opens into the main worship space, where geometry and proportion create a calm, balanced atmosphere. The mihrab and minbar are integrated within the architectural envelope, emphasizing clarity and visual focus toward the qibla.
The exterior composition blends smooth white surfaces, rhythmic openings, and curved structural elements that echo traditional mosque silhouettes while embracing a distinctly modern identity. Subtle landscaping and pedestrian paths complement the architecture, creating a welcoming and contemplative arrival sequence.
Al-Jusair Mosque stands as a modern expression of spiritual architecture—rooted in heritage, elevated by contemporary design, and crafted to serve its community with dignity, clarity, and enduring beauty.
